Gary Sisley

June 1, 1955 — January 15, 2021

Gary Steven Sisley passed away in the early morning hours on Friday, January 15, 2021 at the Walnut Ridge Memory Care Center, Greensburg, Pennsylvania. Gary was born and raised in East Liverpool, Ohio and later became a resident of Lisbon, Ohio. He moved to Greensburg, PA to be closer to his family, when he needed assistance with his day to day living, as his mind started to forget.

Gary spent his career mentoring and supervising mentally and developmentally challenged adults at the Columbiana County Sheltered Workshop, where special individuals are able to acquire job skills, gain vocational experience, or be paid for completing tasks. He took an early retirement giving him time to enjoy life.

During his free time, Gary loved to watch hockey and go to games, especially featuring the Pittsburgh Penguins or the Youngstown Phantoms. Gary belonged to a dart league, spending many years throwing, and spent time as the team captain. He was an avid lover of watching and setting off fireworks. He also enjoyed attending concerts, even taking his daughter, at a young age to her first concert to see Crosby, Stills, & Nash. When he wasn’t able to attend a concert, he enjoyed sitting on his deck, grilling, having a cold beer, and listening to Classic Rock (the only kind of music according to him, except for The Clarks). He was a proud grandfather (Pa) and loved visiting his grandchildren, when he would joke, tease, and roughhouse with them for hours. He also spent many hours on remodeling and wood working projects, often times lending his skills and desire to help others building houses with Habitat for Humanity.

Gary was the son of the late Richard Thomas Sisley and Barbara Jean Robinson Sisley of East Liverpool, Ohio. He was the middle of 3 children and is also proceeded in his death by his siblings - his younger sister, Lisa Anne Sisley, formerly of Boardman, Ohio and his older brother, Daniel Thomas Sisley, who never really settled roots in one place for too long.
Gary is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Amanda and Christopher Hamm of Acme, PA and his 3 beloved grandchildren Alexandra, Douglas, and Isabella.
Gary was 65 years young at his passing. His mind had wondered away and his body finally gave up the fight. His family is taking some comfort that he is now free from pain and confusion.

His services will be private and his cremation is being organized by Graft-Jacquillard Funeral Home in Scottdale, PA. His family hopes to have a celebration of life this summer, while carrying out his final wishes of being shot into the sky amongst the fireworks he loved so much.
