Zachary Eisert Haras

Zachary “Zach” Eisert Haras sadly left us on July 7, 2025. He was born September 16, 1985 in Erie, PA – the son of Mark Haras and Melody Nassif (Halem).

Lou Reed once wrote, “There’s a bit of magic in everything and then some loss to even things out.” Zach brought magic into the lives of everyone he met, through his art, music, deep passion for the things that moved him.

However, with the loss of him, nothing seems to have evened out. His passing has left the world a gray place, without the vibrant colors we were all so used to seeing in the art he created (and sometimes clothing he wore.) Except for green…he hated painting with the color green. He said it got all over everything and made it muddy.

Life will be quieter without him. He always had 3 different sources of sounds going at once, crafting his own soundtrack to life.

Everywhere Zach went he tried to bring a guitar with him. His favorite trick was to carry around junk guitars in a nice case, and his nice guitars in a garbage bag. He would want other musicians to know that now, so they could use it to protect the instruments that are most important to them.

In addition to his parents, Zach is survived by his sisters, Kaitlin and Rachel Haras, his brother Sam Haras, and stepsister Megan Nassif. Zach will be sadly missed by many family members and friends – especially his “Lava”, Megan Sheesley, his musical friends who inspired him, and all those who enjoyed his company, insights, and ideas.

His grandparents Betty & Conrad “Papa with the Pretzels” Eisert, Edmund & Beatrice “Grandma with the Kitties” Haras, and his beloved canine companion, Gunar, departed this life before him.

If you want to celebrate Zach, go listen to the Shaggs, Einstürzende Neubauten, Sandy Denny or Townes Van Zandt. If music isn’t your bag, then maybe look at art from Hieronymus Bosch, Francis Bacon, or some yet undiscovered artist who makes you ask questions. He believed that was the point of art. Use your own creativity in some way to keep his spirit alive.
