William M. “Bill” Miller, 73 of Scottdale, passed away, Saturday, January 6, 2018 in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital. Bill was born June 23, 1944 in Springhill Township, Fayette County a son of the late Charles and Sylvia (Martin) Miller.
Bill had been employed by Lenox Crystal, Mt. Pleasant and then for Bridgestone/Firestone, Youngwood. Following his retirement, he was employed as a driver for Groomes/Quest Transit, Scottdale where he took pride in caring for the children and students he transported. He was a member of the Partner Parish of St. John the Baptist Church, Scottdale and the Scottdale VFW. Bill faithfully served in the US Air Force and was a graduate of Dunbar High School.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Rosemary (Henderson) Miller; his two cherished sons, Charles Scott Miller (and the late, Cherie Janise Miller) and Jeffrey Alan Miller and his wife Emily Jean Miller; four grandchildren, Mya Anne Miller; Faith Elizabeth Miller; Brayden James Miller; and Scarlet Rose Miller; his siblings, Barbara Belknap; Bonnie Petko (Ted); David Miller and Rodney Miller (Carol) and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his longtime friends and neighbors, who are considered family, Tom and Diane Nowicki and their children whom Bill & Rose considered “their grandkids”, Taylor and Grace Nowicki; his caring extended family, Janie Groomes and Bobbie & Gary Eicher and family; and special friends and neighbors, Lucas and Lorraine Meadows.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Russell Miller and his daughter in law, Cherie J. Miller
Family and friends will be received on Tuesday from 6-8 pm and Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at GRAFT-JACQUILLARD FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, INC. 303 Pittsburgh St. Scottdale where Prayers of Transfer will be said on Thursday at 9:30 am in the funeral home followed by Bill’s funeral Mass at 10 am in the Partner Parish of St. John the Baptist RC Church, Scottdale with Rev. Andrew M. Kawecki as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. John’s Cemetery will full military rites accorded at graveside by the Scottdale-Everson Honor Guard.
