Violet Callaro

Violet "Vi" Callaro, 86, a resident of Woodcrest Senior Living Community, Scottdale, passed away peacefully, Saturday, May 23, 2009 at Woodcrest. Vi was born January 13, 1923 in Bronx, NY a daughter of the late John and Letizia Fusco Passero. Prior to retirement, she was employed as a mechanical inspector for the Eaton, Corporation, New York. While a resident of Scottdale, Vi worked and volunteered at the Scottdale Public Library. She was a faithful member of St. John the Baptist R.C. Church, Scottdale and she also was a participant and winner in the YMCA Fall Festival Race and the John Woodruff Memorial Race. Vi will be remembered by her loving son, Robert Callaro and his wife Marsha of Scottdale, her daughter, Marlene Callaro of Brewster, NY; six grandchildren, Raymond Wozniak; Christine Riccia; Liza Burlingame; Sarah Miller; Rebecca Kaye; and Jesse Callaro; and ten great-grandchildren. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Angelo and Mark Passero and two sisters, Madeline Campanovo and Antoinette D'Ambrosio. Family and friends are welcome on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at GRAFT-JACQUILLARD FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC. 303 Pittsburgh St., Scottdale (724-887-7110) where a prayer service will be held Wednesday at 9:30 am followed by a funeral mass at 10 am in St. John the Baptist R.C. Church, Scottdale with Fr. E. George Saletrik as celebrant. Interment will follow in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Pennsville. St. John's Ministry of Consolation will conduct a wake service on Tuesday at 2pm in the funeral home.
