Stanley F. Borek, 82 of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Monday, June 12, 2023 at his home. He was born September 19, 1940 in Scottdale a son of the late John Joseph and Mary Margaret (Milanowski) Borek.
Prior to retirement, Stan had been employed by International Paper, Westmoreland-Fayette Municipal Sewage Authority where he was the superintendent. He then worked as a maintenance supervisor for the Diocese of Greensburg at St. Joseph’s Parish, Everson. Stan was also co-owner of Borek & Greco Wastewater Analysis. Currently, he was serving as a board member of WFMSA and was a representative to the Upper Tyrone Township Sewage Authority having previously served on the board. He was a member of the Partner Parish of St. Joseph RC Church, Everson, the Holy Name Society, and the Everson VFW. In his spare time, he enjoyed cars, carpentry and puzzles. Stan served in the US Army during the Vietnam Era. Additionally, he was a graduate of Scottdale High School Class of 1958.
Stanley is survived by his wife of 52 years, Patricia Ann (Marovich) Borek; his children, Susan Ann Szalla and husband Douglas; Stanley Joseph Borek and wife Tara Bouley; Debra Ann Borek and John Patrick Borek and wife Brooke; five grandchildren, Amelia Borek and her mother, Rachael Spryn; Margot Borek & Emory Borek, Allison and Emily Borek; a sister, Dolores Solinski and husband Steve; sister in law, Patty Borek; brother in law, Joseph M. Marovich, Jr and wife Terry; nieces, Sharon Tubbs and children; Barbara Brady and husband Matt and nephew, Thomas Borek and wife Susane and children; and a close family friend, Rev. Robert Washko.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Thomas Borek and his father and mother in law, Joseph M. Marovich, Sr and Mary K. Marovich.
Family and friends are welcome on Friday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at GRAFT-JACQUILLARD FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, INC. 303 Pittsburgh St. Scottdale where Prayers of Transfer will be recited Saturday at 10:30 am followed by his Funeral Mass at 11 am in St. Joseph RC Church, Everson with Rev. Elmer Alforque as celebrant. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery with military honors bestowed by the Scottdale-Everson Honor Guard. Online condolences are welcome at www.gjfuneral.com
