Sidney "Sid" Guest, 86, of Dawson, passed away, Sunday, February 13, 2011 in Select Specialty Hospital, Latrobe. He was born July 20, 1924 in Scottdale a son of the late Sidney and Ina Hixson Guest.

Sid was co-owner of the former Guest & Hough Tire Service of Scottdale. He was an active member of Tyrone Presbyterian Church, Dawson and a member of the Brownfield Community Center, Dawson. Sid was a member of various barbershop quartets where he sang baritone. He was a member and former director of the Greater Uniontown Barbershop Chorus, which formed the Dutch Treat Quartet in which he sang as well. He also belonged to the Irwin Barbershop Chorus where he served as co-director. Sid was a proud veteran of World War II serving in the US Navy as an Aviation Ordnance man Third Class where he received several honors including the Asiatic Pacific Medal with nine stars; the World War II Victory Medal; Philippine Liberation Medal with 2 stars and the American Campaign Medal. Sid was also well known for his craft of woodworking.

Sid is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Helen M. (Hough) Guest; his children, Sidney R. Guest and wife Coleen of Unity Township; Bradley Guest and wife Lisa of Dawson; Terry Kupets and husband Richard of Dawson; and Carrie Lerner of San Francisco, CA: six grandchildren, Ashley and Travis Guest; Kelsey and Jonathan Guest; and Hannah and Laura Kupets; two brothers, Edward Guest and his wife Roberta "Bobbie" of Scottdale and Donald Guest of Akron, OH and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Evelyn Farmer and Thelma Slaughter and a brother David Guest.

Relatives and Friends are invited to join the family for a memorial service on Saturday, February 19, 2011 at 12:30 pm in Tyrone Presbyterian Church, 402 Jimtown Road, Dawson. The Rev. Robert Prinkey will officiate. The family will greet friends at a reception immediately following the service in the church social room. Private inurnment will take place in Green Ridge Memorial Park with military honors. Arrangements are in the care of GRAFT-JACQUILLARD FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC. 303 Pittsburgh St. Scottdale (724-887-7110). Memorials may be made to Tyrone Presbyterian Church or a charity of one's choice.
