Sandra S. Zimmerman

Sandra S. Zimmerman, 75 of Scottdale, passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2023. She was born February 11, 1948 in Mt. Pleasant Township a daughter of the late Donald and Mildred Dayton.  

Sandy was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and sister.  She was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School and had been employed by Laurel Food Systems for 37 years and was then employed by Woodcrest Senior Living.  She attended St. John the Baptist Church and Wesley Chapel Church.  Sandy loved gardening and with pride she tended to the landscaping around her home.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Arthur Zimmerman whom she married August 24, 1968; her daughter, Jennifer Gast and her husband, Nathan; two grandchildren, Wesley Patton and Emma Gast; her siblings, Carol Goulding; Beverly Albright; Roxann (Tony Vesco) Upholster and Donald (Joyce) Dayton; her brothers and sisters in law, Tim (Sheila) Zimmerman; Jerry (Rita) Zimmerman and Monica (Fritz) Potter and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by John and Jean Preston who raised her, along with her sister, Susie (Jim) Drexler.

Honoring Sandy’s personal wishes, there will be no public viewing or service.  A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.  The family wishes to thank the staff of VITAS Hospice, especially Melissa, for their care.  A special acknowledgement is also extended to close friends, family and neighbors for their support and kindness during Sandy’s illness.  Memorials may be made to VITAS Hospice 2009 Mackenzie Way, Suite 110, Cranberry Township, PA  16066.  To share a memory, offer condolences or plant a tree, please visit ww.gjfuneral.com
