Ruth Shaw

June 3, 1917 — March 8, 2012

Ruth E. Shaw, 94, formerly of Tarrs, passed away, Thursday, March 8, 2012 in Westmoreland Manor. She was born June 3, 1917 in Mt. Pleasant a daughter of the late John and Cora (Hershberger) Dodson.

Ruth was a homemaker and a loving, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Years ago, she worked at the Julie Anne Shop in Mt. Pleasant. She attended the Center Bethel Church of God, Alverton and enjoyed crossword puzzles, flowers and gardening. She was especially fond of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren whose lives she touched in many ways.

She is survived by two sons, Thomas E. "Ed" Shaw and wife Debbie of Laurelville; and John W. Shaw and wife Gail of New Hampshire; eight grandchildren, Timothy Shaw; James Shaw; Patrick Shaw; Hope Smith (Brett); Karin Rugg; Shannon Hutter (Jason); Duane Rodgers; and Dennis Rodgers (Susan); 19 great-grandchildren, Angela, Devin Samantha, Joshua, James, Jr., Justin, Spencer, Tyler, Matthew, Ethan, Meghan, Hannah, Ian, Kara, Dylan, Jesse, Jacob, Dakoda and Michael; a daughter-in-law, Judith A. Shaw and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence "Unc" Shaw; a grandson, Kevin Shaw and a brother, James Dodson.

Family and friends are welcome at GRAFT-JACQUILLARD FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC. 303 Pittsburgh St. Scottdale, 724-887-7110, (an Authorized Remembrance Provider) on Sunday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm where funeral services will be held, Monday at 11 am with Rev. Lee Kline officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Joy Cemetery. The family suggests memorials to Heartland Hospice 3520 Rt. 130 Building 3 Irwin, Pa 15642. The family would like to extend a word of thanks to the staff of Westmoreland Manor and Heartland Hospice for the care they provided to Ruth.
