Roy W. Browning, Jr., 85 of Scottdale, passed away peacefully Friday, June 22, 2007 at his home. He was born August 26, 1921 in East Huntingdon Township a son of the late Roy W. Browning, Sr. and Alice Willard Browning.
Roy was a retired employee of the Scottdale Borough Street Department and was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Scottdale; Marion Lodge #562 F & AM, Scottdale; Uniontown Lodge of Perfection and Scottish Rite of Pittsburgh. Roy was a veteran of World War II having served in the US Marine Corp in the South Pacific Theater attaining the rank of Corporal.
He is survived by his loving family, his daughters, Mary Luczki and her husband Edward of Everson; Barbara Dotson and her husband Timothy of Durham, NC; a son, Roy W. Browning III with whom he resided; his grandchildren, Andrea Dotson of Houston, TX; Kristen, Andrew and Nathan Luczki of Everson; his sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Maust and Mrs. Marilyn Shallenberger and her husband Howard all of Scottdale; several nieces and nephews and his loving and faithful basset hound, Susie. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary H. (Sharp) Browning in January 1982; a grandson, Phillip J. Dotson in November 2005 and a brother-in-law, Marshall Maust in 1989.
Family and friends are welcome on Sunday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at GRAFT-JACQUILLARD FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, INC. 303 Pittsburgh Street, Scottdale (724-887-7110) where funeral services will be held Monday at 10 am. Interment will follow in Wesley Chapel Cemetery, East Huntingdon Twp. Marion Lodge #562 F & AM will conduct a memorial service on Sunday at 7 pm in the funeral home.
