Norman Snyder

Norman A. "Bud" Snyder, 84, of Scottdale, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, June 07, 2011 at his home. He was born March 15, 1927 in Parnassus, Pa a son of the late Dr. T.R. and Wilhavene George Snyder

Mr. Snyder served in the US Navy during World War II on the USS Kearsarge CV 33. He was a member of Marion Lodge #562 F & AM and served as Worshipful Master in 1963. He also belonged to the Uniontown Lodge of Perfection, Consistory of Pittsburgh; Syria Shrine of Pittsburgh and was a former member of the Syria Temple Legion of Honor. He spent 40 years in scouting where he received the Silver Beaver Award, the Vigil Honor Order of the Arrow and the God and Service Award. He attended seven national Boy Scout Jamborees and was on the National Staff. He was a member of Calvin United Presbyterian Church, Scottdale where he served as a deacon and elder for many years.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Winifred Jean (Bowser) Snyder; two sons, Norman Wade Snyder and his wife Loren of Pittsburgh and Neal Aubrey Snyder and his wife Sandra of Connellsville; four grandchildren, Susan L. Snyder; Neal A. Snyder, Jr; Christina K. Snyder Miller and Stephen W. Snyder; seven great-grandchildren, Joey Baker; Andrew Snyder, Kelsey Snyder, Kali Snyder, Katlynn Snyder, Nicholas and Sarah Snyder and a cousin, Aubrey Snyder.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Dr. T.R. Snyder, Jr.

Family and friends will be received on Friday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm in the care GRAFT-JACQUILLARD FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC. 303 PITTSBURGH ST. SCOTTDALE. (724-887-7110) where services will be held Saturday at 9:30 am in the funeral home. Interment will take place in Lawn Haven Burial Estates, Worthington. Marion Lodge #562 F & AM will conduct a memorial service Friday at 7 pm in the funeral home. The family would like to offer a special thanks to the staff of Heartland Hospice for their care and support. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Calvin United Presbyterian Church 114 N. Chestnut St. or the Scottdale Public Library 106 Spring St. Scottdale, Pa. 15683 in memory of Norman A. Snyder.
