Nancy M. Clark, 89 of Scottdale, passed away Saturday, January 27, 2018, at her home in Scottdale. She was born May 5, 1928 in Scottdale, a daughter of the late Dr. William and Edith (Mellinger) McDowell.
Mrs. Clark was a lifetime resident of Scottdale and had been a teacher in the Scottdale and Southmoreland School Districts where she taught fourth grade. She began her career at the Pittsburgh Street School where she initially taught fifth grade, but for most of her career she taught fourth grade, many of those years at North Grade. She received her bachelor’s degree from the Pennsylvania College for Women, now Chatham College, and her master’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh. She was a faithful member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Scottdale. She held memberships in a variety of organizations including, Delta Kappa Gamma Society, the Order of Eastern Star, the Scottdale Book Club, numerous bridge clubs, Daughters of the American Revolution and Daughters of American Colonists and the Westmoreland Saturday Afternoon Club.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband John L. Clark, Jr., three brothers, William, James and Robert McDowell and two sisters, Sally McDowell Coffman and Alice McDowell Furman.
She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews of the McDowell and Clark families.

Harry R. Speakman officiating. Interment will follow in the Scottdale Cemetery.
