Marjorie Myers

Marjorie W. Myers, 85 of Cheswick, formerly of Scottdale, passed away Saturday, November 15, 2014 in Arden Courts Memory Care Community of North Hills. She was born May 6, 1929 in Scottdale a daughter of the late William Ellsworth and Ella Rose (Taylor) Walter.

Marjorie was a graduate of Scottdale High School Class of 1947 and attended Duffs-Iron City College (Duffs Business School) in 1948. She was a member of the Cheswick Presbyterian Church, the Falls Creek Presbyterian Church and numerous church groups. Prior to her marriage, she worked as a secretary then served as a church organist and choir director at Cheswick Presbyterian Church, Verona United Methodist Church and the Falls Creek Presbyterian Church.

When she was younger, Marjorie was a member of the Junior Women's Club and also served as a Girl Scout leader. She also belonged to the "Ladies of the Lake" women's group and the "9 Hole Swingers" golf league after retiring with her husband to Treasure Lake in DuBois, Pa. During her life, Marjorie participated in numerous bowling leagues, both couples and women's. She enjoyed golf, bowling, quilting, gardening, birding and cross-country skiing.

In addition to her parents, Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Earl E. Myers and two brothers Bill and Bob Walter.

Marjorie had a great sense of humor, which even as her illness progressed, she continued to share with her family and her caregivers. She loved her family and will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by four daughters, Cathy (John) Renkiewicz; Connie (Clarke) Ewart; Sandy (Dion) Costello and Becky (Larry) Frauen; 11 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Family and friends will be received on Saturday, November 22, from 12 until 1 pm at the WESLEY CHAPEL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 485 Wesley Chapel Road, Scottdale. Her funeral service will be held at 1 pm in the church with Rev. Larry Ruby officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association at alz.org.
