Laveda Kathryn Wood

Laveda Kathryn (Kay) Wood, 99, formerly of Scottdale, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2025 at St. Anne Home, Greensburg. She was born August 5, 1926 in Scottdale a daughter of the late Homer B. Boyer and Lena Holifield Boyer.

Kathryn graduated from Scottdale High School in 1944. She was then employed by the Municipal Authority of Westmoreland County, in the Scottdale office, from 1944 to 1988 when she retired. She was a member of the former Christ United Methodist Church, Scottdale, Chapter #383 of the O.E.S., the Scottdale-Mt. Pleasant Saturday Afternoon Club, a member of the former Pleasant Valley Country Club and past president of the Ladies Golf Association. She loved to play golf and bridge.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Richard (Dick) Wood on March 30, 2008, her sister Melva Boyer Brissel and her brother, William H. Boyer.

She is survived by her niece, Kay Boyer and nephews, William B. Boyer and his wife Barbara and several great nieces, great nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.

Private interment will take place in the Scottdale Cemetery under the care of GRAFT-JACQUILLARD FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., SCOTTDALE. Should friends desire, memorials may be made to a charity of their choice. Online condolences are welcome at www.gjfuneral.com
