John Leonard

October 6, 1942 — November 17, 2014

John D. Leonard, 72, of Dawson, passed away, Monday, November 17, 2014 at his home comforted by his family. He was born October 6, 1942 in Scottdale a son of the late J.D. Leonard and Dorothy (Stoner) Leonard.

John was a people person and enjoyed his employment as a delivery driver for the former DeMuth Florist, Scottdale and also delivering Meals on Wheels. He was a veteran of the US Army, an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, John David Leonard, II; a brother and sister in law, William and Barbara Leonard; and three brothers in law, Earl Leonard, Dale Fuller and Red Maloy.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lucille (Conn) Leonard; his children, Elizabeth Leonard; Richard Leonard and wife Michele and Amanda Leonard; three grandchildren, Jamie Lynn Leonard, and Wyatt and Austin Leonard; his brothers and sisters, Marianne Leonard; Grace (Keith) Ware; Kenneth (Helen) Leonard; Carolyn Maloy; Robert (Jean) Leonard and Timothy (Sandy) Leonard and numerous nieces and nephews.

As John requested, there will be no public viewing. Family and friends are invited to a Graveside Inurnment service on Saturday, Nov. 29 at 11 am at WESLEY CHAPEL CEMETERY where military honors will be bestowed by the Scottdale-Everson Honor Guard. John's memorial service will follow at 12:30 pm in the BROWNFIELD COMMUNITY CENTER, 291 Banning Road, Dawson, PA 15428.
