John Bielecki

September 29, 1925 — July 22, 2009

John A. "Sam" Bielecki, 83, a resident of Amber House, Mt. Pleasant, formerly of Scottdale, passed away, Wednesday, July 22, 2009. He was born September 29, 1925 in Mt. Pleasant a son of the late John A. Bielecki, Sr. and Anna K. (Bienia) Bielecki.
Sam retired from US Steel Irvin Works in 1987. He was a veteran of the US Navy serving in World War II where he was awarded the European Theater, Pacific Theater and American Theater ribbons and the Victory medal. He formerly held memberships in the Mt. Pleasant VFW where he was also past commander, the Mt. Pleasant American Legion, Scottdale VFW, and the Scottdale Moose, Eagles and BPOE #777. He was also a past member of the former Transfiguration RC Church, Mt. Pleasant.
He is survived by his loving family; his wife, Shirley A. (Brothers) Bielecki; children, Darla Labuda and significant other, Scott of Pittsburgh; Robert Bielecki of Ohio and and Helen Marie "Kitten" Bielecki of Tarrs; a step daughter, Cindy Stennett and husband Alan of Jeannette; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sophia "Weffie" Bielecki of Greensburg; Mary Malego of Mt. Pleasant; two brothers, Joseph Bielecki and wife Josephine of Mt. Pleasant and Mitchell Bielecki and wife Gale of Springfield, MO and numerouse nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, twins, Helen & Carolyn Bielecki; Josephine "J" Kaib and Nellie Trice; and brothers, Frank, Stanley, Walter and Edward Bielecki.
Family and friends are welcome on Friday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at GRAFT-JACQUILLARD FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC. 303 Pittsburgh St., Scottdale, (724-887-7110) where a prayer service will be held on Saturday at 9:30 am followed by a funeral mass at 10 am in St. Pius X RC Church, Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Dennis Bogusz as celebrant. Interment with military honors will take place in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville.
