June Elizabeth Sember, 90, of Scottdale, died Sunday, May 1, 2022, at Mountain View Senior Living Center in Greensburg. Born on Sunday, April 3, 1932, in Lycoming County, Elizabeth was adopted by Charles and Cora Shoemaker as an infant.
She lived all of her life in Scottdale, except for seasons of study in college and university. Elizabeth was granted a BS In Education from Eastern Mennonite College and then did post graduate work at Columbia University and the University Of West Virginia.
Elizabeth was a Connellsville Area School District elementary teacher for her entire professional career and continued teaching after her marriage to Eugene in 1975, retiring at the age of 62. They did not have children of their own but have had strong connections with nieces and nephews on both sides of their families.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Eugene Sember, as well as, nieces and nephews.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Evelyn Miller.
Family and friends are welcome on Saturday at GRAFT-JACQUILLARD FUNERAL & CREMATION SERIVCES, INC. 303 Pittsburgh St., Scottdale from 10 am until 10:30 am the time of her funeral service with Rev. Dr. Martin Ankrum officiating. Interment will follow in the Scottdale Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, Greensburg. Online condolences are welcome at www.gjfuneral.com
