James R. Marth, Sr., 84 of Scottdale, passed away unexpectedly, Friday, March 27, 2009 at his home. Jim was born April 23, 1924 in Scottdale a son of the late Charles and Anna (Martz) Marth. He retired from US Steel Irvin Works and attended the First Baptist Church, Scottdale. He served in the US Navy Seabees during World War II and was a graduate of Scottdale High School. He was a former member of the Scottdale American Legion and member of the former Scottdale VFD Band. He also belonged to the Harrold Grange and Laurel Square Dance Groups and the Ridge Runner and Wally Byham Trailer Clubs. He is survived by his son, James R. Marth, Jr.; and his second wife, Phyllis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Nelda Jean (Cramer) Marth in 1986.
