Isobel Brooks

Isobel E. "Izzy" Brooks, 88, of Scottdale, passed away, Wednesday, February 1, 2012 in Latrobe Select Specialty Hospital. Isobel was born March 18, 1923 in Luzerne Township, Fayette County a daughter of the late Nelson C. and Sara (Johnson) Porter. Isobel retired from Scottdale Bank and Trust where she was employed as a teller and then worked in the bank loan department. She was a faithful member of Pennsville Baptist Church. Previously, she was a member of the Everson Evangelical Church of North America where she had served as choir director, Sunday school teacher and financial secretary. She was also a former member of the Scottdale Choral Society. Isobel is survived by her loving and devoted children, Bill Brooks and his wife Kate of Severna Park, MD; Barry Brooks and his wife Susie and Bonny Coffman and her husband Sam all of Scottdale; eight grandchildren, Nelson Brooks (Myra) Sparks, MD; Ty Brooks, Pittsburgh; Jonathan Brooks, Scottdale; Dan Coffman (Heidi), Bay Village, OH; Sara DeFilippo (Tom), Bethel Park; Sam Coffman (Amy), Erie; Kevin Coffman (fiancAC., Leslie), Bethel Park; Anna Coffman, Raleigh, NC; nine great-grandchildren, Addy, Emma and Corrie Brooks, Sparks MD; Hayden, Sheldon and Danielle Coffman, Bay Village, OH; Ryan and Caleb Coffman, Erie; and Esther Joy DeFilippo, Bethel Park; a sister in law, Lois Brooks and several nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William G. Brooks, who passed away the same day 43 years ago, February 1, 1969; two brothers, Evans and Robert Porter and a sister, Lois Ann Croushore. Family and friends are welcome at GRAFT-JACQUILLARD FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC. 303 Pittsburgh St. Scottdale, 724-887-7110, (an Authorized Remembrance Provider) on Saturday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Additional visitation will be held on Sunday in the Pennsville Baptist Church 3298 Richey Road, Mt. Pleasant from 1:30 pm until the time of service at 2 pm with her pastors, Rev. Dr. Terry V. Murray and Rev. Robert H. Bixel officiating. Interment will follow in Scottdale Cemetery. Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the Pennsville Baptist Church in memory of Isobel E. Brooks.
