George Sprinkle

George R. Sprinkle, 76, of Pennsville (Bullskin Township), passed away, Friday, August 1, 2008 in Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg. He was born September 16, 1931 in East Huntingdon Township a son of the late Jasper O. and Elizabeth Geisler Sprinkle.
George was retired from Teledyne Summerill, Inc. in Scottdale where he had been employed in the maintenance department. Years ago, he worked for the Borough of Scottdale and also served as an associate at the former James Murphy Memorial Home, Scottdale. George was well known in the area for his handyman and excavating services. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Scottdale and was very active in the community as a member of the Scottdale Volunteer Fire Department Company #2 for over fifty years. He held numerous positions over the years including that of chief and received a Service award from the fire department. He belonged to the Westmoreland County, Western PA. and the PA. State Firemen's Associations, the Scottdale Firemen's Club; a life member of the Scottdale BPO Elks #777 where he was awarded Elk of the Year; and a former member and officer of the PAK, Everson and a member of Shopmen's Local Union #527.
George is survived by his longtime companion, Catherine "Cass" Wildey of Pennsville; his loving daughters, Janice I. Felgar of Scottdale and Doris J. Dillon and her husband James of Dawson; a step-daughter, Judy Brown of Florida; four grandchildren, Brian Felgar and Jen; Robyn Felgar and Lou, Tonya Dillon and Tricia Dillon; a step grandson, Kevin Palmer and a step great-granddaughter, Kayla Palmer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Louella M. (Brooks) Sprinkle in 1973 and two brothers.
Family and friends are welcome on Monday from 7-9 pm and Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at GRAFT-JACQUILLARD FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC. 303 Pittsburgh St., Scottdale (724-887-7110) where services will be held Wednesday at 11 am in the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Marvin Watson officiating. Graveside committal services and interment will follow in Normalville Cemetery, Springfield Twp. The Scottdale Fire Dept. will conduct a memorial ritual Tuesday at 7pm and the Scottdale Elks will conduct a memorial service Tuesday at 7:30 both in the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to the Scottdale Volunteer Fire Dept. Pittsburgh St. Scottdale PA 15683.
