Gary Schenck

Gary G. Schenck, 60, of Scottdale, passed away, Friday, March 4, 2016 in Excela Westmoreland Hospital.  Gary was born November 28, 1955 in Pittsburgh a son of the late James G. Schenck, Sr and Sarah (Leaman) Schenck of Scottdale.

Gary was a graduate of Southmoreland High School Class of 1974 and Penn State University.  He was a licensed real estate appraiser having operated Colonial Appraisal Services.  He had formerly been employed as a Vice President for Farm Credit Bank of Baltimore, MD, and was also employed by Production Credit Association working in the New Stanton, Latrobe and Uniontown offices.

Gary was a member of the Alverton United Methodist Church as was an outdoor enthusiast participating in running, tennis, skiing, fishing and golf.  He also enjoyed good conversation.   Locally, Gary was instrumental in construction of the Laurel Highlands YMCA where he served on the board and as President of the board.

Gary is survived by his mother, Sarah “Sally” Schenck; his three brothers, James Schenck, Jr and wife Joyce and their children, Lara and Ben; Robert Schenck and his partner William Chang and their children, Isabel and Evan and Rand Schenck and wife Elaine and their children, Andrew, Thomas and Julie and Gary’s longtime friend and companion, Cathy L. Smith.

Family and friends are welcome on Friday from 1-3 & 6-8 pm at GRAFT-JACQUILLARD FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, INC. 303 Pittsburgh St. Scottdale.  Gary’s funeral service will held Friday at 8pm in the funeral home at the conclusion of visitation, with Rev.
