Frank Rush

Frank Lindley Rush, 82 of Scottdale passed away, Thanksgiving Day,  November 25, 2021 in the comfort of his home.  He was born July 5, 1939 in Connellsville, a son of Alfred M. and Sara (Engel) Rush.

Frank was a graduate of Scottdale High School Class of 1957 and received his Bachelor of Science degree from The Pennsylvania State University College of Agriculture in 1961. While at Penn State he was a member of the Alpha Zeta fraternity. Prior to his retirement,  Frank was employed by the Southmoreland School District as a high school chemistry and biology teacher.

Frank lived and worked at Creekline Farms his entire life, a place that brought him much joy and a lifetime of great memories. There,  he and his wife Patty hosted Easter egg hunts for 50 years. He loved to work in his shop where he made many special toys for the children in his life. Frank organized the Laurel Hill Society - 'spit in the fire' many Wednesday evenings on the farm.

He was a lifelong and active member of Jacob's Creek United Methodist Church, Scottdale where he was a Sunday school teacher, choir member and held numerous leadership positions.

Frank sang lead in a number of quartets over the years including the Keynote Quartet. He was also an active member of the Kiwanis Club of Scottdale.

Among his other activities,  he loved to snowmobile, go jeeping, camping at Penn State and anything with tractors, trains and planes.  He volunteered for many years at the Oshkosh Air Show in Wisconsin as a tram driver.

Frank is survived by his loving wife, Patricia A. (Thomas) Rush whom he married June 16, 1962, his cherished daughter, Amy Margaret Bucher and her husband Paul; his grandchildren, Paul and his wife Kara and their children, Sophia and Paul; Nick and his wife Kate and their daughter Emmie; and Tim, Andrew and Sara; his two sisters, Nancy Wood and her husband John; Cathy Beatty and her husband Ron; a nephew, John, a niece, Melissa and her daughters, Zoe, Quinn and Rory.  He was Uncle Frank to many.

Family and friends are welcome on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at GRAFT-JACQUILLARD FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES,  INC 303 Pittsburgh St, Scottdale. (Visitation will conclude Monday evening.) Funeral services will take place on Tuesday at 11 am in Jacob's Creek United Methodist Church 5543 Scottdale-Dawson Road,  Scottdale with his pastor, the Rev. Shawn Robbins officiating.  Private interment will take place in Green Ridge Memorial Park.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Jacob’s Creek United Methodist Church.  Online  condolences are welcome at www.gjfuneral.com
