Elsie Bungard

Elsie G. "Miss Honey" Bungard, 97 of Scottdale, passed away peacefully, Thursday, September 4, 2014. She was born August 5, 1917 in Bullskin Township a daughter of the late Charles and Irma (Hostetler) Niswonger.

She retired from the former Connellsville Sportswear with 36 years service and was a graduate of Scottdale High School Class of 1935. She was a long-time and faithful member of Pennsville Baptist Church where she had served as a Deaconness, was a member of the Sunshine Sunday School Class and served as a Sunday School Teacher for 65 years. She also hosted and taught Child Evangelism, Good News Clubs throughout the area. She also volunteered at the Connellsville Canteen, which served military service men coming through the area.

Miss. Honey will long be remembered for her mission in life--bringing others closer to the Lord. She did this in many unique ways and was well-known for having a pocket full of "smarties" which she passed along to everyone she met. Miss. Honey also shared her special signature verse "Jesus loves you and I do too" in all of her greeting cards.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Charles Bungard; two brothers, Joseph and Eugene Niswonger; three sisters, Florence Forejt; Violet "Tops" Murray; Ellagene "Toots" Diven and an infant sister.

She is survived by her sister, Stella Morgan of Lake Wells, Florida and several nieces and nephews including her special niece, Connie Roy and her family, Jamie Liston (Kevin); Stacey Gordon (Chad) and Logan and Brody. She is also survived by her extended family at Pennsville Baptist Church.

Family and friends are welcome on Saturday from 6-8 pm and Sunday from noon until 8 pm at GRAFT-JACQUILLARD FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, INC. 303 Pittsburgh St. Scottdale. Additional visitation will be held on Monday from 10 until 11 am in Pennsville Baptist Church where her funeral service will be held at 11 am with her pastors, Dr. Terry V. Murray and Rev. Robert H. Bixel officiating. Interment will follow in Pennsville Independent Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Miss Honey requested memorials be made to the Pennsville Baptist Church 3298 Richey Road, Mt. Pleasant, PA 15666.
