Elizabeth "Betty" Banko, 84, of Everson, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at her home. She was born October 8, 1927 in Unity Township a daughter of the late Michael and Catherine Hanosky Kapura.
Betty was a loving homemaker and dedicated mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her family. She was a longtime member of St. Joseph RC Church, Everson. Betty enjoyed baking and giving her baked goods to others. Years ago, she enjoyed attending bingo.
She is survived by her four sons, Walter V. Banko and his wife Linda of Cincinnati, OH; James A. Banko and his wife Marilyn of South Connellsville; Donald C. Banko and his wife Saundra of Connellsville and Roger E. Banko and his wife Sandra of Preston, MD; her grandchildren, Jon Banko and wife Nicole; Rachel and Christina Banko; Kelly Stubbs and husband Jeremy; Jason Banko and wife Jen; Michael Banko and wife Rachel; Angela Black and husband Mick; Brian, Christopher, Jeannette and Daniel Banko; four step-grandchildren, Eusebius Cadet, Keedalyn Cadet; Alexandra Ortiz and Robert Younkin and wife Penny; her great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Jonna Banko; John Egenlauf; Danniel Morali; Lyndsey, Mark, Natalie and Olivia Stubbs; Dominic, Colton and Gianna Black; three step-great grandchildren, Jesus Ortiz, Jeremiah Ortiz and Derek Cadet; a brother, John Kapura of Oklahoma; a sister-in-law, Josephine Williams of Tennessee and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter P. Banko, Dec. 10, 2008 and a son Gregory M. Banko, Jan. 31, 2004; six sisters, Ann Elwood, Vern Yesho, Marie Hudak, Margaret Urban, Kathryn Trapletti and Josephine Kapura; and two brothers, Joseph and Mike Kapura.
Family and friends are welcome on Thursday from 7 to 9 pm and Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at GRAFT-JACQUILLARD FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC. 303 Pittsburgh St., Scottdale, 724) 887-7110 an Authorized Remembrance Provider, Prayers of transfer will be held Saturday at 9:30 am in the funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 am in St. Joseph R.C. Church, Everson with Fr. John A. Sedlak as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. A parish wake service will be held on Friday at 3:45 pm in the funeral home.
