Edward J. Zgorecki, 78, of Scottdale, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2026, at Forbes Regional Hospital in Monroeville. Born on February 27, 1948, Edward was the son of the late Marcella L. Zgorecki. He was the beloved husband of Linda F. Zgorecki, loving father to Elizabeth A. Goodman, and proud grandfather to Ely and Claire Goodman.
Edward graduated from Geibel High School in Connellsville, Pennsylvania, in 1966 and went on to study music education at Clarion University. Shortly after beginning college, he joined Tommy James and the Shondells as their lead guitarist. Following several years of touring with the band, Edward continued pursuing his passion for music by working as an audio engineer for various bands and performers.
His interests also led him to study electronic engineering at Westmoreland County Community College while working at SONY in New Stanton, Pennsylvania. After ten years at SONY, Edward retired and returned to college, where he earned a degree in graphic design, reflecting his lifelong love of learning and creative expression.
Edward had a deep love for music, particularly playing the guitar. Music remained a defining part of his life, bringing him joy and providing a meaningful outlet for his creativity. From performing on tour to working behind the scenes as an audio engineer, his musical journey reflected both his passion for music and his appreciation for the technical artistry behind it.
Edward leaves behind his beloved wife of 57 years, Linda; his daughter, Elizabeth; his son-in-law, Haddon Goodman; and his two grandchildren, Ely and Claire. His family will forever cherish the memories they shared and the special place he held in their lives.
Just as a favorite song stays with us long after its final note, Edward’s memory will continue to resonate in the hearts of those who loved him. May the music he cherished and the memories they shared bring comfort to his family and friends in the days ahead.
