Dr. Richard Malone, Jr

Dr. Richard P. Malone, Jr., MD, of Glenside, passed away unexpectedly, Monday, October 3, 2011. He was born June 25, 1952 in Mt. Pleasant a son of the late Richard P. Malone, Sr. and Shirley (Noschese) Malone Eckman of Everson.

Richard was currently a professor of psychiatry at Drexel University College of Medicine. He was a 1970 graduate of Geibel High School; graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Pittsburgh; received his master's degree in psychology from St. John's University Queens, NY and was a graduate of Hahnemann Medical School. Dr. Malone chaired and participated in many national, local and regional committees for child psychiatry. He was recognized nationally and internationally for his research and clinical care for children and adolescents with autism. He was a former member of St. John the Baptist R.C. Church, Scottdale and an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

He was preceded in death by his father, Richard, Sr on July 11, 1986 and a sister, Mary Ann Malone.

In addition to his mother, Shirley (Malone) Eckman, Richard is survived by a son, Rich and his mother, Dr. Mary Anne Malone; three sisters, Goldie Lohr and her husband Michael; Kim Fagan and her husband Joseph and Shirley Wolak and her husband, Robert; a niece, Faith Lesniak; his special friend, Monica Zbyr; his dog, Stomper and many aunts, uncles, cousins. He will be fondly remembered by many of his friends and colleagues.

Family and friends are welcome on Thursday from 2-5 & 7-9 pm at GRAFT-JACQUILLARD FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC. 303 Pittsburgh St. Scottdale, 724-887-7110, (A Remembrance Provider), where a prayer service will be held Friday at 10:30 am followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 am in St. John the Baptist RC Church, Scottdale, with Rev. E. George Saletrik as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Scottdale. The ministry of consolation will conduct a wake service on Thursday at 2 pm in the funeral home.
