Carl D. Johnson, 85, of Scottdale passed away, Sunday, October 6, 2013 in Excela Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant. Carl was born in Scottdale on June 14, 1928 a son of the late Carl H. and Beulah C. (Baker) Johnson

Carl retired from West Penn Power Co. where he worked as a mechanic. He had previously been employed by Overholt Motors. He was a longtime and faithful member of Trinity Reformed United Church of Christ, Scottdale where he served as and Elder and Deacon. Carl was a veteran of the US Navy, a member of the Air Force Association, YMCA Silver Sneakers and served as an assistant Cub and Scout Master for Troop #156. In addition he belonged to Marion Lodge #562 F & AM.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Daniel L. Johnson and Richard M. Johnson.

Carl is survived by his devoted family, his loving wife Grace (Uber) Johnson; two sons, Col. Charles D. Johnson and his wife Virginia Frank Johnson, and Eric U. Johnson and partner Jeffrey Hertrick; two grandchildren, Amanda F. Johnson and Second Lt. Carl W. Johnson; a sister, Phyllis J. Seaman and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received at GRAFT-JACQUILLARD FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC. 303 Pittsburgh St. Scottdale on Tuesday from 3-5 & 7-9 pm and Wednesday from 1 until 2 pm when services will be held at 2 pm in the funeral home with his pastor, Rev. Jeffrey Welsh officiating. Interment will follow in Scottdale Cemetery. Marion Lodge #562 F & AM will hold a memorial service on Tuesday at 8 pm in the funeral home. If desired, memorials may be made to Trinity Reformed Church 106 Chestnut St. Scottdale, Pa. 15683 or Regional Family YMCA 490 Bessemer Road Mt. Pleasant, PA 15666.
