C. Maxine Schomer, 84 of Scottdale, died peacefully at home, Saturday, May 30, 2015. She was born June 29, 1930 in Scottdale a daughter of the late Orlando and Verna Gunder.

Maxine was a graduate of Scottdale High School Class of 1948. Prior to retirement, she was employed by the Mennonite Publishing House for 35 years, where she was a layout artist. She was also a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Scottdale.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 66 years, Jack, Sr. whom she met as a 10 year old while attending Sunday school at the First Baptist Church, Scottdale. She is also survived by her children, Jack Robert, Jr and his wife Renea of Parma, OH; Jerry and his wife Becky of Orchard Park, NY; Diane Hollenbeck and her husband, George of Irwin; Kathi Thomas and her husband Henry of Alverton; Bill and his wife Patty of Mt. Pleasant; Ron and his wife Charlene; and Jeff and his wife Susan all of Greensburg. She was so proud of those that came after her, 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, and loved to be surrounded by her large family. Maxine is also survived by her brother, Richard Gunder and his wife Donna of Lancaster, OH.

Maxine loved to bake and her cinnamon rolls and pinwheel cookies were famous in town. The family gratefully appreciates the care given over the last two years of her life by Senior Life of Greensburg and the support they provided to her family.

Family and friends will be received at GRAFT-JACQUILLARD FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, INC. 303 Pittsburgh St. Scottdale on Monday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm and Tuesday from 10 am until the time of her funeral service at 11 am with her pastor, Rev. Dennis M. Henley officiating. Interment will follow in the Scottdale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
