Alberta Cocain

August 29, 1911 — February 22, 2008

Alberta B. Cocain, 96, of Scottdale, passed away Friday, February 22, 2008 at John the XXIII Nursing Home in Hermitage, where she had been a resident for the past several months. Mrs. Cocain was born August 29, 1911 in Charleroi a daughter of the late Henry and Catherine Kiel Braun.

Alberta was a loving homemaker residing in the Chaintown area for many years. She was a longtime and faithful member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Scottdale, where she held the position of secretary for 20 years. She was a member of the church council, formerly taught Sunday school and served as Sunday School Superintendent. Alberta was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter #435 of Greensburg.

She is survived by her loving family of two sons, Henry Cocain and his wife Kathy of Sharpsville; and Robert Cocain and his wife Tammy of Ventura, Ca; ten grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Hazel Merrill of Ohio.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert V. Cocain and a daughter, Carole Louise Cocain; a granddaughter and a sister, Marie Gilmore.

Family and friends will be received on Monday from 4 to 8 pm at GRAFT-JACQUILLARD FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 303 Pittsburgh St., Scottdale (724-887-7110) where services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 am with her pastor, Rev. Matthew Stabe officiating. Committal services and interment will take place in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Pennsville.
