Dorothy Maust

Dorothy B. Maust, 99 of Scottdale, passed away, Sunday, January 29, 2017.  She was born November 1, 1917 in East Huntingdon Township a daughter of the late Roy W. Browning, Sr and Alice (Willard) Browning.

Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Maust had been a nurse at the original Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant and was an industrial nurse at the former Connellsville Sportswear.  She was a longtime and active member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Scottdale where she was a member of the United Methodist Women and the Klingerman Class.  She was a past member of the former Order of Eastern Star Chapter #383, Scottdale and had also served as Mother Advisor for the Rainbow Girls.  Currently, she was a member of the Connellsville Order of Eastern Star Chapter #247.  Dorothy was a founding member of the Scottdale Women’s Garden Club and was a charter member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Scottdale Volunteer Fire Department.  Of primary importance to Dorothy was her family to whom she was always very attentive and active with all family functions.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Marshall S. Maust (August 24, 1989) and her brother, Roy William Browning, Jr.

She is survived by two daughters, Marsha M. Zelenka and her husband Richard and Sharon J. Maust; three grandchildren, Holly Dillon, Troy M. Zelenka and Marcy Beth Shotts; four great-grandchildren, Troy M. Zelenka, Jr. (USMC), Jessica Beth Bryner, Timothy Shotts and Kyrrah Zelenka and a great-great granddaughter, Brystol Gayle Bryner.  She is also survived by her sister, Mrs. Marilyn Shallenberger and her husband, Howard and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are welcome on Tuesday from 5 to 7 pm at GRAFT-JACQUILLARD FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, INC. 303 Pittsburgh St. Scottdale where her funeral service will be held on Wednesday 11 am with Rev. Harry R. Speakman and Rev. Millie Martin co-officiating.  Interment will follow in Wesley Chapel Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church or the Scottdale Volunteer Fire Department.  The Order of Eastern Star Chapter #247 will conduct a service on Tuesday at 7 pm in the funeral home.
